WATER FREEZE PREVENTION

WATER FREEZES. MOVING WATER DOES NOT FREEZE

When the outside temperature falls below 4 degrees F, the pipes that feed your kitchen and bathroom may freeze.  Therefore, anytime during the day, evening, or overnight,  you should take the following precautions any time the outside temp falls below 4 degrees.

—Keep the cabinet door under the sink open so the warm air from the apartment can get to the pipes under the sink. THE DOORS REALLY SHOULD BE LEFT WIDE OPEN THROUGHOUT THE COLD SPELL BEGINNING SATURDAY MORNING FEB 6  ON THROUGH THE END OF THE MINUS 4 DEGREE TEMPERATURES ON MONDAY. February 8.

Thereafter, the water faucets may only need to be turned on to a dribble overnight when the temp is expected to drop below 4 degrees F.

-Open the water faucets (both cold and hot) on all water fixtures whose pipes run along the outside walls.
