Phil, who exactly are you talking about? Maybe reply to my message because I’m really curious about who specifically is attacking you from our community? From my view, there is a common enemy attacking us but they are the radical anarchists and marxists, not Italians. I don’t know anyone who hasn’t been supportive of the fight to get back the statue, keep our holiday or revitalize Little Italy.
That means to Hell with all the stab in the back people! I always gave people the benefit of doubt, it looks like I need to change my ideas. And I have gotten it from a reputable source that all that was said is true!! This person is as Evil as the Devil himself to stab other Italians in the back!!

Here's my response to your allegations attempting to lure Taylor Sreeters into accepting your false narrative of the irrefutable facts that had been posted for everyone's consumption since its initial posting on October 23, 2021.
FIRST OFF, LET ME MAKE IT CRYSTAL CLEAR THAT AT NO TIME HAD ANYONE THAT I'M AWARE OF ATTEMPTED TO DERAIL ANY EFFORTS MADE MY ANY GROUP, BE THEY GRASSROOTS OR NOT, INVOLVED IN THE RESURRECTION OF THE COLUMBUS STATUE AND OUT TAYLOR STREET LEGACY. FROM DAY ONE WE WERE IN SUPPORT OF ANY AND ALL EFFORTS THAT HAVE MOVED US CLOSER TO THAT GOAL. THAT IS IRREFUTABLE DESPITE ANY STATEMENTS MADE TO THE CONTRARY.
RE: OCTOBER 23, 2021 ARTICLE POSTED ON OUR TSA FB SITE.
Carlo Vaniglia. Your input, even when lacking the necessary substance, is always interesting and welcome. Following is a sample of your many posts since Oct 23. They do not sound like differences of opinion. At least not to legal counsel who deem your posts as malicious slanders denigrating another man’s reputation and negatively impacting his livelihood. As Admin of the FB site from which this this malicious attack emanated, not responding to your allegations could be deemed as complicity in what may become a litigious event.
Further, would it not be enlightening to your audience if you shared the volume of posts that you had recently removed from your FB sites? That surely would be the evidence our Taylor Streeters (and then some) would require to decide as to the authenticity of your accusations. Would you agree?
Further, is it ok with you if I share my Oct 23 post that included 1) an overview of the neighborhood's historic efforts to retrieve our legacy and our rightful place in the UIC’s Hull House Museum and 2) gives praises and recognition for the role of the newly elected leadership of the Joint Civic Council of Italian Americans and the grass roots participants that were supported by the JCCIA’s new group of leaders? For that is what the two demeaning retorts posted below are speaking to. I can just as easily post it on Messenger to each of the people on this thread, If that works better for you. YOUR CALL!

Upon legal advice, three members of our Taylor Street Archives FB site been removed pending their providing proof of their accusations charging that another member had offered a bribe (empty promise) to me to write the following brief chronology summarizing the legendary Taylor Street’s quest to reinstate it’s legacy and to claim their rightful share of the Jane Addams Hull House Museum. Failure to recognize and suspend their activity could lead to our being complicit in what could be deemed a libelous and criminal act. The resolution is simply to demand that they provide the evidence that such and insidious action had occurred. The article of which they allege was written by me in exchange for some sort of bribe is posted here for your perusal. Vince Romano
RESURRECTING OUR RENAISSANCE Posted: Oct 23, 2021 Vincent Romano
THE NOW TAYLOR STREET RENAISSANCE: OUR LAST CHANCE TO PRESERVE OUR LEGACY
Reaching back to my roots and my pedigree as the son of one of the numerous Italian immigrants who found their way to Taylor Street's Little Italy at the turn of the century, I share this observation with those who have recently taken up arms in defense of our history, our legacy, and our people's historic contributions to the evolving civilizations and their societies.
As a self-proclaimed historian, I have engaged in decade long battles with the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC)--their faculty, their board of Trustees, and the staff of the UIC's Hull House Museum-- to correct the flawed history being dispensed to educators, historians and the public; e.g., Italians were simply one of 24 immigrant groups equally served by the Jane Addams Hull House.
MERGING OF THE JANE ADDAMS HULL HOUSE MUSEUM WITH THE TAYLOR STREET ARCHIVES/MUSEUM
A decade or so ago I thought I/we had succeeded in our mission. The UIC Trustees and the UIC Chancellor all concurred with my presentation, i.e., "History should include the story of those who lived it." They urged the Director of the Hull House Museum to establish a place where the Taylor Street Archives (TSA) would be readily available to interested parties. The stories and articles of the TSA confirmed the synergy that existed between the Jane Addams' Hull House and Taylor Street's little Italy, the laboratory upon which the premier sociologist of her day, Jane Addams, tested her theories and based her protests to the establishment.
The then power structure of the Italian American community failed to support the UIC chancellor, the UIC trustees, and its Chairman (Christopher Kennedy). Not one medium, not one alleged leader (social, political or otherwise), not one prominent business man spoke out on behalf of our legacy. In short, THE SILENCE WAS DEAFENING.
Cutting to the chase, today we have the vibrant combination of the acknowledged leader of the Italian Americans, Ron Onesto, President of the JCCIA, actively involved in every ground swell of our Italian constituents--weekly vigils at the Columbus statute sight, amassing a Columbus Day parade that rivaled that of Camelot days of the JCCIA, providing support for the grass roots efforts of creating a visual legacy of Taylor Street's Little Italy comparable to that of Greektown and Chinatown, and of equal importance, the overdue creation of the Taylor Street Archives Museum. (ASIDE: I’m sure there may be other grass roots movements, other than those mentioned here, of which we’re currently not aware, including those that will evolve in the future of which the resources of his office will continue to support.)
We now have a synergy that had never existed. Ron Onesti, armed with his acknowledged leadership of our people's empirically confirmed dedication to our cause on the one hand, and the vibrant and energetic activities of our grass roots revolutionaries. The existence and mutual support of both entities is crucial to the success of our mission.

*CARL VANIGLIA initial response in which 1) he ignores the distinction made between the Italian American leadership of “previous years” and the newly elected current leadership and 2) he claims sole credit over the multitude of Italians who responded to the broad threat of replacing Columbus day with indigenous day.

Vincent Romano I too like your stories and posts , but I take offense to this post. I have organized the festa della Repubblica for the past 13 years . I have invited and asked for support from the JCCIA every year, only to be ignored because I don’t have a 7 figure savings account . I do it only to bring back some of our traditions to little Italy and to unite our community all at my expense .
As for the vigil at arrigo park I started it and warned the JCCIA before the statue was taken down and it fell on deaf ears to all the Italian organizations until the statue was gone, so after a year and a half of being there every Sunday I left when the JCCIA turned my PROTEST into an Italian feast , if the JCCIA wants to attend a feast I have organized one for the past 13 years let them know the next one is June 5 2022, it’s called Festa della Repubblica/ Italian unity day

Vincent Romano it's clear as day that you've been reached out to and most likely received yet another empty promise after making a post just yesterday condemning the Italian Sports Hall of Fame and its leaders. You've flip flopped from a critic to an advocate overnight regarding whom you were just criticizing yesterday. At least be consistent in your rhetoric.
At this point Mr. Marcantelli attached two posts which he concluded were proof that Ron Onesti had offered me a bribe: A) The post in which I had pointedly accused “previous” Italian American leaderships of abandoning our efforts to preserve and enhance our Taylor Street legacy and B) The post, also noted above, in which I had praised the ‘current” and recently elected Italian American leadership for their support and contributions.
Mr. Marcantelli then interpreted the posts for our members to imply that I had flip flopped as the result of a bribe. Despite the fact that the first post references the “previous Italian American leaderships” and the 2nd post references the newly elected “current Italian American leadership.”
To conclude: Following is the latest of the repeated criminally liable accusations (this one from Mr. Vaniglia) supporting his oft-repeated contention that I had accepted a bribe from Ron Onesti.

You were part of a recent thread in which, once more, the demand for proof of the alleged clandestine obstruction of our Taylor Street movement. The public vilification of a fellow Italian by claiming that that individual, by name, had offered a bribe to undermine their efforts libelously slanders that individual and impacts their livelihood. If you have an interest in the post that was referred to in that discussion, which they point to but refused to share with you, simply respond to this message. Upon reading the irrefutable document, you can make your own determination, as had Columbus Chris and others, as to the truth of the matter. If not, then I understand that the dynamics of not wanting to lose your standing in the group has a higher priority to you than uncovering the truth about the vilification of fellow Italian.

I'm with Columbus Chris and other FB members. It's time we end the innuendoes and name the people alleged to be sabotaging the movement to resurrect the Taylor Street Renaissance. Following is the October 23, 2021 post praising all who had contributed to date to the successes we had attained and/or were in the process of attaining. That's where we first encountered the claim that only one person was deserving of receiving any recognition.

Carlo Vaniglia I was present at one of your early Festa Del Republica events at Our lady of Pompeii (probably your first one). It's not likely that the JCCIA would provide support for what amounted to an automobile display in which few, if any, of the handful of participants were of Taylor Street vintage. Neither was it apparent that any had immigrated prior to the 1950s. (The JCCIA leadership at that time was more inclined to reach out to those whose roots were more akin to our original turn-of-the-century immigrants.) Further, the JCCIA rarely, if ever, provides financial support for any events other than those which they themselves sponsor. They do advertise the events sponsored by their members.
Carlo Vaniglia
Vincent Romano i never asked them for a dime . But if you and the JCCIA think what I have done is just a car show with a few of my friends , then call the JCCIA and go join them at their next golf outing , since you’s are both ignorant of Italian history .

Carlo Vaniglia "As for the vigil at arrigo park I started it . . ."
IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT OTHERS HAD STARTED THE VIGIL AND YOU SIMPLY SAW AN OPPORTUNITY TO HIJACK IT AND CLAIM IT AS YOUR INITIATIVE.
"I started it and warned the JCCIA before the statue was taken down and it fell on deaf ears to all the Italian organizations until the statue was gone."
NOT TRUE, IT WAS COMMON KNOWLEDGE THROUGHOUT THAT THE COLUMBUS STATUTES WERE IN JEOPARDY FROM COAST TO COAST. YOU SIMPLY JOINED THE CHORUS AFTER THE FACT.
"I left when the JCCIA turned my PROTEST into an Italian feast"
AT WHAT POINT DOES ITALIAN HOSPITALITY TURN INTO A FEAST? FOOD/REFRESHMENTS HAD TYPICALLY BEEN SERVED AT THE SUNDAY VIGILS. CLAIMING THAT YOUR ABSENCE AT THAT MAJOR COLUMBUS DAY EVENT WAS BECAUSE THEY WERE SERVING FOOD DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE.
"If the JCCIA wants to attend a feast I have organized one for the past 13 years let them know the next one is June 5 2022, it’s called Festa della Repubblica/ Italian unity day."
IF RON ONESTI AND THE JCCIA ARE NOT INVOLVED IN THIS 2ND CRUSADE TO RESURRECT THE TAYLOR STREET LEGACY, WHAT HAD TRANSPIRED DURING YOUR FESTA DELL REPUBLICA A DECADE AGO AND AT OTHER TIMES IN YOUR PURSUIT TO CLAIM LEADERSHIP WILL SURELY SURFACE AGAIN. IF YOU RECALL, I ALLOWED YOUR ASSOCIATE TO SHARE THE HANDOUT TABLE WITH OUR TAYLOR STREET ARCHIVES ASSOCIATES AT OUR LADY OF POMPEII (OLP) MASS BACK THEN. THE OLP OFFICERS, CONFUSED, CHALLENGED THE ARRANGEMENT. YOU WON THE OLP ADMINISTRATION OVER WHEN YOU REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR INVOLVEMENT AND CONCURRED WITH THEM THAT I WAS THE GUILTY PARTY. APPARENTLY, THAT WON YOU THE 13 YEARS OF YOUR FESTA TO BE HELD AT OLP. SURELY, SIMILAR DYNAMICS WILL BE IN PLAY AGAIN WITHOUT THE INVOLVEMENT OF THE DETERMINED LEADERSHIP OF RON ONESTI AND THE JCCIA. THUS JEOPARDIZING THE EFFORT TO RESURRECT TAYLOR STREET.

As for the vigil at arrigo park I started it and warned the JCCIA before the statue was taken down and it fell on deaf ears to all the Italian organizations until the statue was gone, so after a year and a half of being there every Sunday I left when the JCCIA turned my PROTEST into an Italian feast , if the JCCIA wants to attend a feast I have organized one for the past 13 years let them know the next one is June 5 2022, it’s called Festa della Repubblica/ Italian unity day
Vincent Romano Admin Carlo Vaniglia I was present at one of your early Festa Del Republica events at Our lady of Pompeii (probably your first one). It's not likely that the JCCIA would provide support for what amounted to an automobile display in which few, if any, of the participants were of Taylor Street vintage. Neither was it apparent that any had immigrated prior to the 1950s. Further, the JCCIA rarely, if ever, provides financial support for any events other than those which they themselves sponsor. They do advertise the events sponsored by their members.
Carlo Vaniglia Vincent Romano i never asked them for a dime . But if you and the JCCIA think what I have done is just a car show with a few of my friends , then call the JCCIA and go join them at their next golf outing , since you’s are both ignorant of Italian history .
FOLLOWING IS A SIMILAR CRITICISM DIRECTLY DEMEANING ONE OF OUR MEMBERS AND EVEN THREATENING HIS LIVELIHOOD.
Vincent Romano Admin
Carlo Vaniglia You're the one who said "I have invited and asked for support from the JCCIA every year , only to be ignored because I don’t have a 7 figure savings account." Your post is still here to be read. Further, I don't get the connection with you wanting me to call the JCCIA to join them in their next golf outing and then claiming that both the JCCIA and I are ignorant of Italian history. What you just said doesn't make any sense. Are you OK?
&&&&&&&&
Vincent Romano Admin
3. FOLLOWING IS THE TONY DONATO'S CONTRIBUTION.
Tony Donato Mr. Romano, I have read many of your posts, comments and insight to Taylor Street as well as The history of Chicago, Italian - Americans. I truly enjoy your posts. This one whoever I feel that you may have been misled a bit or under the impression things are getting done or got done under the JCCIA. Until now the JCCIA has done nothing to help the Taylor Street community. Other than hold some carnival like rallies and a frivolous law suit to bring back the Columbus statue. We all know that statue is never coming back to Arrigo Park. I do believe Ron Onesti has good intentions. But Ron is also a showman and a promoter. He has made a promise to bring a statue of Italian American prominence to the newly named Piazza Di Italia Chicago, formerly DiMaggio Piazza. Hopefully Mr Onesti will put his money where is mouth is. It’s amazing with all these Italian - American organizations out there, that NONE have done anything for the community. Instead it took two courageous, passionate and determined men (Carlo Vaniglia and Philip Marcantelli) to get a beautiful mural painted in the Piazza. Neither of these men have political backing, nor backing from major corporations nor from wealthy private investors. Instead they did a Go Fund Me and raised the money within a week. As well as both put in numerous hours and money out of their own pocket.
Vincent Romano Admin Tony Donato I was not made aware that Ron resisted the painting, or the weekly vigil, or the Columbus Day parade. Further, I've known Ron Onesti and Carl Vagnalia for decades. I stand by my convictions as stated elsewhere in this thread.
Tony Donato Vincent Romano I never said Ron resisted the painting. He had nothing to do with it. But did show up at the unveiling to support the efforts of others that put into it
Vincent Romano Admin Tony Donato Sorry about that. I misread the criticism as being directed toward Mr. Onesti who, as we all know, supported every grass roots effort to ignite a Taylor Street renaissance. "Until now the JCCIA has done nothing to help the Taylor Street community. Other than hold some carnival like rallies and a frivolous law suit to bring back the Columbus statue."
4. FOLLOWING IS PHILIP MARCANTELLI'S CONTRIBUTION
Philip Marcantelli Vincent Romano , I've noticed that you like to speak of the past quite frequently. While I too believe that our history is vital, my question is what have you or anyone that you are advocating for done to revitalize Chicago's Little Italy in 2021? There are too many talkers and very few people that actually live by their word. Stay tuned for our next revitalization project to be completed in the coming weeks to enhance Chicago's Little Italy.
Vincent Romano Admin
Philip Marcantelli I SENSE THAT YOUR COMMENTS AND YOUR QUESTIONS WERE INTENDED TO BE DEROGATORY. HOWEVER, MY RESPONSES MAY BE BENEFICIAL FOR BOTH OF US.
I've noticed that you like to speak of the past quite frequently. TRUE. AS AN HISTORIAN AND CULTURAL ANTHROPOLOGIST, I DO RELY ON THE PAST TO HYPOTHESIZE A VISION OF WHAT AWAITS US IN THE FUTURE.
While I too believe that our history is vital, my question is what have you or anyone that you are advocating for done to revitalize Chicago's Little Italy in 2021? TO EVEN OUT THE PLAYING FIELD, I SHOULD ASK IN RETURN, WHAT HAVE YOU OR ANYONE FOR WHICH YOU ARE ADVOCATING DONE TO REVITALIZE CHICAGO'S LITTLE ITALY PRIOR TO 2021?
BTW: I DID ADVOCATE FOR PHILIP MARCANTELLI AND RON ONESTI, BOTH OF WHOM MADE NOTABLE CONTRIBUTIONS IN 2021. DOES THAT COUNT?
There are too many talkers and very few people that actually live by their word. TRUE AGAIN. MOST TALKERS ARE SEEKING TO COVER UP THEIR INFERIORITY COMPLEXES. YOU'LL FIND THAT ITS NOT LONG INTO THE CONVERSATIONS THAT THEY'RE ENGAGED, KNOWINGLY OR UNKNOWINGLY, IN A PENIS MEASURING CONTEST.
Stay tuned for our next revitalization project to be completed in the coming weeks to enhance Chicago's Little Italy. THE BANNERS WILL BE SIGNIFICANT IN ENHANCING THE IMAGE OF TAYLOR STREET'S LITTLE ITALY. IF THERE'S ANYTHING MORE THAN THAT, IT WOULD HAVE TO BE ANOTHER GRASS ROOTS OPERATION UNLESS YOU HAVE GOTTEN THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY TO FINALLY CAPITULATE AND GIVES BACK TO THE COMMUNITY THAT SUPPORTED THEM .
Philip Marcantelli
Vincent Romano , it's clear as day that you've been reached out to and most likely received yet another empty promise after making a post just yesterday condemning the Italian Sports Hall of Fame and its leaders. You've flip flopped from a critic to an advocate overnight regarding whom you were just criticizing yesterday. At least be consistent in your rhetoric.
At this point Mr. Marcantelli attached a previous post in which I pointedly accused previous Italian American leadership of abandoning our efforts to preserve and enhance our Taylor Street legacy. It appears that post deceived others into believing that I had flip flopped and had abandoned my decades long criticism of the Italian American leadership. When in reality my recent post praised, not the previous leadership, but the stellar performance of the current JCCIA leadership and the contingent of leaders encouraged to support both the formal and the grass roots eforts that were underway. I called Mr. Marcantelli on the misleading conclusion he was promoting but to no avail. However, the reading/intelligence levels of our Taylor Street contingent is such that they will surely uncover the ploy.
Vincent Romano Admin Philip Marcantelli Noted! And for the first time in memory, since the Camelot days of Congressman Annunzio, Anthony Fornelli, et al, (1960s-70s) we have more than a titular head of the Italian Americans. However, our legacy lies in the control of the those who choose to write our history and our legacy, to their liking. Historians, educators and students don't come to our homes to complete the research required before publication. Those writers , etc. go to the Hull House Museum for their material.
If those historians, etc, manage to get to Dominic Candoloro, whether it be via Casa Italia or the Loyola College Italian Chair, he will, as he has in the past, purport that Taylor Street was one of the many Italian American enclaves in the Chicago area. Ignoring the fact that over half of Chicagoland's Italian Americans have their roots in Taylor Street, the port-of-call for Chicago's Italian Americans.
Dominic Candeloro was instrumental in helping to raise $250,000 to buy an Italian Chair being offered by Loyola University of Chicago. The chair and the position was paid for by the Italian American community and benefitted others, as has always been the case for our people. Unfortunately, the promised support to win back our legacy from the UIC Hull House once we were awarded the Italian Chair, never materialized.
The never ending story of our people being too unsophisticated and too unconnected to fend for themselves may now be breeched. This year, thanks to the Columbus debacle, we have grass roots support and the formal leadership encouraging and supporting every effort to win back our legacy.
Stay the course and keep Ron Onesti close and in the loop. When all is said and done, (and recognizing your amazing contributions) Ron Onesti will hold the trump card that can resurrect the legendary Taylor Street for all to acknowledge:- a time, a place, and the people that were and can never be again.
A series of additional give and takes are in the original post. The reader can view them at their leisure.

Karma...Karma...Karma. The plethora of false accusations made by Messrs. Vanaglia and Marcantelli have now been refuted. The current leadership of the JCCIA did not, as they repeatedly alleged, stand idly by as the city absconded with out Columbus statue. And in the process the surrounding false allegations they made have also been refuted.
Should we now demand that those who misled us regarding the character and input of the newly elected JCCIA regime make a public apology? That apology should include, in addition to the current JCCIA leadership, others who also had been seriously maligned. Those that they had publicly accused of being in league with some unnamed power structure and upon whom they heaped insult upon insult in alleging that they were involved in some sinister plot to undermine their leadership. An obvious ploy designed to thwart any inquiries or criticism of the false narratives they were spreading.
I now regret having allowed them to use our FB site to marinate the minds of our members in their attempt to form a Jihad type mob that would blindly support their brand of what would be akin to a form of Sharia law. All for the single purpose to control our thoughts and our actions in their efforts to impugn and ostracize those whom they perceived to be a challenge to their recently contrived leadership that would enable them to control the neighborhood and its institutions.
It is being rumored that once they have total control and immunity, they will impose a street tax on our businesses and our people, both residents and visitors alike. I personally had to endure a barrage of unending insults and accusations from them and their hired guns.
For those who are unfamiliar with the recent debacle as they attempted to malign and purge those that threatened their attempted coup the full thread still exists on our FB site. Meanwhile, I have composed a streamlined version of the threads 100 plus comments that I am willing to post on your FB site to read at your leisure.

I'm in Facebook jail so I'm reaching out via messenger to inform people that the pictures of the Columbus statue being circulated have been photoshopped to make us believe that the statue that our current Italian American/JCCIA leaders had negotiated to be taken out of storage for our parade is a fake.
You can detect the deceit using simple math. The Columbus statue is 9 ft tall. The city workman is 1/3 the size of the 9 ft statue. Therefore, mathematically speaking, the city worker is 3-4 ft tall.
It would appear that the insidious effort to deceive the Italian community and the members of the Taylor Street Archives FB site continues unabated.
One can only surmise as to the reasoning behind those who are relentless in their pursuit to impugn the current JCCIA leadership and others who are perceived to have made (or are making) meaningful contributions in our struggle to regain our history and legacy symbolized in the grandeur of our Columbus statues. Lest we forget: Beyond the statue, the resurrecting of the Taylor Street Renaissance that was thought to have been achieved during the first crusade, when our people won over the minds and hearts of the UIC decision makers in 2013, remains the ultimate goal.
Deborah Craig appears the be 1 of 3 members of the recent Jihad uprising that took place during the last couple of days that continue to remain active. She has posted an obvious photoshopped picture of the Columbus statue as proof of her continuing inferences that you have mislead us regarding the Columbus statue. Naturally, Vanaglia, etc. endorsed her conclusion. Having been blunted by me several times over the last several days, Deborah has only a couple people that continue to drink the KOOL aide she has been asked to serve. There are 3 or so new people on her thread that appear to be neutral and or curious late comers. Even Coconate was no longer buying into their narrative, actually challenging her illogical conclusions and assumptions to the point where he was now challenging and correcting the facts she was spewing to her limited audience.
Back to the chase. Anyone with an IQ north of the mentally trainable barrier can see that the photoshopped picture of the 9 foot original statue, being washed by a Chicago employee before it was removed, is 3 times the size of the employee. Therefore, applying Captain Queeq’s geometric logic, the Chicago employee is no more than 3’6”-4’ tall. CHECK IT OUT.
I can refuse to post the pic on the TSA FB with or without telling Deborah why… or i can post it on the TSA FB and ask her to explain the discrepancy after the fact …or simply approve the post and let it play out on its own. I’ll have to figure out what, if any, my responsibilities are as the FB administrator and proceed from there.

REGARDING THE RECENT COLUMBUS STATUE POST. Frank, I appreciate your astuteness and integrity in challenging the misleading statements and innuendoes being dispensed on the latest Columbus statue thread. All of which, it appears, is being orchestrated to undermine the successes of the newly elected leadership of the Italian American community assigned the task of resurrecting our Taylor Street Renaissance. A Renaissance that had been won by a grass roots movement (sic 2013) and was ours just for the asking. Apparently, that previous leadership failed to acknowledge and support that crushing victory. It appeared that collecting a $250,000 street tax from our community to purchase payroll job from Loyola University for one of our elites had a higher priority. I can no longer locate your comments challenging the misleading narrative. It may be my age or perhaps it was removed because it did not support the narrative being orchestrated.

*Ron Onesti, recently elected leader of the Italian American community, actively engaged in examining the damaged Columbus statue. In an amazing political and public relations strategy, Mr. Onesti, our newly elected leader negotiated the release of our statue and, in the process, salvage our Columbus Day Parade. A parade of such proportions as had not been seen since the Camelot days (sic 1960-70s) of Congressman Annunzio, Representative Victor Arrigo, and Anthony Fornelli.
*It is obvious (to me and others) that the picture Debora is presented of the Columbus statue is fake and has been photoshopped. Professional photographers have also determined as much.
A) the Columbus statue is 9 ft tall; 2) the picture of the city worker planted alongside the statue is less than 50% the size of the statue (more like one-third). That means the city worker is somewhere between 3’ 6”-4’ tall. In my mind, the city worker is either a hobbit or this is a fake picture planted here to deceive and mislead us into believing the statue used in the Columbus Day Parade is not the original statue but a replica.
If this observation is correct, then, by definition, we must surmise that Deborah has also been deceived into posting the picture and the repeated false innuendos about the newly elected leadership of our Taylor Street (and the larger Italian American community). Mr. Ron Onesti did not lie to us, as has been and continues to be alleged.
Mr Onesti, did not replace the original statue with a replica as is being alleged. Neither is he in league to undermine the grass roots efforts of anyone involved in this community effort. He has been supportive of and in attendance at virtually every event, whether they be grass roots or were planned and supported by the formally recognized Italian American leadership that he now commands.
All groups were invited and accepted his invitation to the resurrected Columbus Day Parade. Including those opportunists who are now intent upon betraying our cause in an attempt to feed their unquenchable narcissistic bent by denouncing anyone who shares any recognition or praise in this venture to resurrect or legacy.
Hopefully, Deborah Craig can share with us from whom she received the pictures and the slanderous/libelous misleading statement of facts designed to denigrate the character and integrity of the one person who, in the initial months of his leadership, won over the Chicago administration to not only lend us the Columbus statue but to reinstate the Columbus Day Parade. That individual being Mr. Ron Onesti.
&&&&&
Mr. Onesti, contrary to what is being purported, had the statue cleaned as pictured elsewhere on our Taylor Street FB site(and likely at his own expense). And in the process orchestrated a Columbus Day parade of proportions not seen since the Camelot days (sic 1960-70s) of Congressman Annunzio (won the approval of legislation that declared Columbus Day a national holiday), Representative Victor Arrigo (spearheaded the drive to install the statue in Peanut/Arrigo Park), and Anthony Fornelli (widely recognized and respected leader of that greatest generation).
Carlo Vanaglia and Deborah Craig and Phillip whatever your last name is, please respond with something other than repeating your tiresome mantra that people are and will continue to insult you in an attempt to undermine you. 1) Simply name this clandestine group that you have uncovered that has flip flopped me and others or admit that is a fabrication on your part; 2) explain how you missed the fact that the picture you endorsed with the 4 ft Park District employee has all the markings of being a fake, much like the fake Viking Vineland map attempting to usurp Columbus' achievements; 3) and most important, explain why you were so insulting to me on our TSA FB site when I heaped praises upon all who had contributed to whatever successes people had achieved in our mutual struggle.
I am still at a loss to comprehend your reasoning for the slanderous insults simply because I heaped praise on all who had and continued to contribute to the pursuit of our legacy that was being hijacked by others.

RESPONSE TO THE LATEST IN THE STRING OF CARLO VANIGLIA POSTS. So let's cut to the chase, Carlo. Are you now saying that you don't and never did support the narrative being spewed by Deborah's Craig for the past week (and then some) in which she not only wrongfully impugns the integrity of a fellow Taylor Streeter, but enlist a cadre of brainless lemmings in an attempt to not only denigrate the man but to also destroy his livelihood. If so, speak up. Because your previous posts and responses surely suggest that you condoned and continue to condone those vile, insidious attacks.
And one more time. I ask that you tell us who are those behind the scene characters that you and Phillip Marcantelli claim to have uncovered and from whom I am allegedly accepting bribes to flip flop my decades long position of denouncing the leadership that existed prior to the recently elected Ron Onesti leadership.

The plaza should be our Taylor Street Hall of Fame. Etching the names (possibly plaques) of those who had not only lived the Italian American experience of Taylor street, but whose names are etched in the memories of the initial offspring of our immigrant parents as being representative of our people's struggles and contributors to the history and legacy of Taylor Street...a time, a place, and a people that were and can never be again.

It has been suggested that the now vacant Plaza where the DiMaggio statue once stood, be our Taylor Street Hall of Fame. Etching the names (possibly plaques) of those who had not only lived the Italian American experience of Taylor Street, but those who are etched in the memories of the initial offspring of our immigrant parents. Those who are readily recognized as part of the Taylor Street landscape and representative of our people's struggles. Their contributors to the history and legacy of Taylor Street --a time, a place, and a people that were and can never be again--should not be lost in the din of the current struggle to resurrect the legacy and reignite the Renaissance of Taylor Street. Some that come to mind include, Congressman Annunzio, State Representative Victor Arrigo, Anthony Fornelli, Florence Scala, Jimmy DeVito (Sheridan Park, Jane Addams with whom we had formed a synergy that challenged the establishment, our athletes, Angelo Mistretta* and others who had achieved successes beyond the profound failures prophesized by our soothsayers...and on and on, and on. Feel free to contribute the names of those people that you feel would be reflective of that legacy. *ASIDE: I will attach that article describing the odyssey of Angelo Mistretta as an example of those who defied the profound failure of our sociological soothsayers.

TIME TO RESURRECT OUR TAYLOR STREET MEMORIAL?
It has been suggested that the vacated plaza on Bishop, where the DiMaggio statue once stood, be resurrected as our Hall of Fame. To include a monument to our immigrant parents/grandparents who had emigrated from the shores of the Italian peninsula at the turn of the century. Who sought the dream and made it possible for their offspring to transition from being servants to the dream to becoming participants in the dream.
When we were denied access to the Hull House Museum in 2013, that segment of the Taylor Street Archives paying tribute to those original immigrants remained stored in the Taylor Street Archive’s website which currently houses our history and our legacy. That website is being reconstructed and will be available to the public shortly.
Under the leadership of our newly elected JCCIA president, who has endorsed and supported every effort to resurrect our Taylor Street Renaissance, be they grass roots efforts or efforts initiated by seasoned legal and political minds.
We have an opportunity to circumvent the narcissism the has recently erupted and reinstate the grass roots victory that had been initially won by those who presented to the UIC Trustees …the UIC Trustees chairman, Chris Kennedy (Bobby Kennedy's son) …the UIC Chancellor, etc. Unfortunately, the Italian leadership during that era turned their backs on us.
Under separate cover I have attached the prologue to our Taylor Street Archives website, which had served as an introduction to that memorial paying tribute to and acknowledging the contributions of those turn-of-the-century immigrants.
WHAT SAY YOU!

COLUMBUS, CONSTANTINOPLE, AND THE LEGENDARY TAYLOR STREET.
Constantinople, the seat of the Eastern Roman Empire, fell to the Muslim world in 1453. marking the official end of the Eastern Roman Empire (The Western Empire fell in 473 AD..) With the fall of Constantinople, the Muslims now controlled the entire Silk Road leading from China to Europe, thus enabling them to impose their culture (Islam and Sharia law) upon the Europeans. Later that same century, in 1492, the daring journey across the 3,000 mile Atlantic thwarted the pending cultural invasion and preserved Europe's culture of Western Civilization. Columbus' journey inspired others to brave the long and treacherous journey around the southern cape of Africa to India. The seminal moment initiated by Columbus was completed when Vasco de Gama, navigator and explorer sailed from Portugal to India in 1498, six years after Columbus amazing feat. Hence, Columbus is more than a symbol of our ethnic pride. Our Columbus Day parades should acknowledge and promote that seminal moment in history with others of whom we share these gifts.

Frank Coconate TO CLARIFY THE SUBSTANCE OF THE ARTICLE:
F.C. TO CLARIFY THE SUBSTANCE OF YOUR ARTICLE:
A TAKE ON THE DIMAGGIO STATUE AND THE VACATED PLAZA.
Newspapers and other sources document that the Italian American Sports of Hall of Fame (IASHF) purchased the statue at a cost of $150,000 in 1991. When the IASHF moved from the suburbs to their new location on Taylor and Bishop in Chicago, the statue moved with them. When the IASHF was evicted, their attorneys ordered that all the items they owned be moved back to the suburbs. Neither Ron Onesti nor any other person had the power to override the attorneys that represent the interests of the IASHF.
As I recall, the DiMaggio statue was in Arlington Heights when it was first unveiled in 1991. It had been commissioned by Later moved to Taylor Street (1990)
Further, the city attorneys were making claim that the statue belonged to the city since it sat on city property. ASIDE: Had the IASHF attorneys not ordered the DiMaggio statue moved to the new Hall of Fame in the suburbs, it likely would have suffered the same fate as the Columbus statue; e.g., vandalized and removed in the middle of the night by the city.
B. But when the Hall of Fame lost its Taylor Street lease two years ago, it packed up its collections – including the DiMaggio statue. It is now at Rebechini Studios in Elk Grove Village. Glenn Rebechini’s father created the DiMaggio statue at the same studios all those years ago, and it is now being refurbished there.
“It’s got a little corrosion in a few spots,” Rebechini said, “so we’re going to have to do a little bit of grinding and welding where it’s showing a little bit of wear and tear. It’ll look like new when it’s done.
C. The president of Hall of Fame, Ron Onesti, said he understands people in Little Italy want the statue to return.
“I was born on Taylor Street as well, and having the Piazza DiMaggio was very, very special to me personally to my family as well,” Onesti said.
Still, Onesti is committed to placing the statue in the Hall’s new home on the Northwest Side. But he promises to invest in the plaza.
“That’s why I’m more driven to make sure that that piazza represents our Italia-American heritage, and what that neighborhood actually meant to the Italian-Americans here in Chicago,” he said."

In order to prove you guilty of FELONY elder abuse under Penal Code section 368, the prosecutor must establish beyond a reasonable doubt the following: 1) you inflicted unjustifiable physical pain or mental suffering on an elder, or you allowed another person to do so; 2) you acted willfully or with criminal negligence ...
Which of the following describes a form of psychological abuse?
Psychological abuse, often called emotional abuse, is a form of abuse, characterized by a person subjecting or exposing another person to behavior that may result in psychological trauma, including anxiety, chronic depression, or post-traumatic stress disorder.

Posted is another quote carried across the great ocean by our turn-of-the-century immigrant parents who found their way to the legendary Taylor Street. Defying the profound failure predictions of our sociological soothsayers, they endured the psychological genocide imposed upon them by the media and the major culture. Enabling future generations of Italian Americans to transition from being servants to the dream to becoming participants in the dream. We must encourage our business owners to participate in the construction of a statue in the Bishop Street Piazza commemorating their achievements. Donations made as tax deductible business expense.

The slanderous/libelous posts are safely stored. Beyond libel, they have been deemed to have crossed the threshold of elder abuse. Subsequently, it appears that those who had posted the libelous fabrications have deleted them. The resurrection of the Taylor Street renaissance can now proceed without the repetitive mutually supported narcissistic banter of “I started it…he started it…we started it. Attempting to negate the contributions of Taylor Streeters other than themselves.

Jennie Capuano I don't understand how you gathered that I am knocking anyone. I thought I was knocking the suggestion that we replace the memorial of our turn of the century immigrant with some ancient Romans.
I gather you are in favor of ignoring the legacy of our turn-of-the-century immigrant parents in favor of the Carlo Vangelia's proposal. You surely are free to express your support of Carlo's recommendation to replace the DiMaggio Piazza with Caesar, etc as is being suggested by Carlo Vaniglia as a better option.
However, what I don't understand is the accusation that someone is filling my head with BS. And that I am knocking you and others (including Luke) for your participation in bringing back our Little Italy to our neighborhood. I'll repost my repeated praises for "everyone" involved in this crusade if your need.
It appears that you are mouthing Carlo's words. Posts he made that you apparently overlooked or misread. Words that he/they posted and subsequently removed when it became apparent that their public posts were complete falsehoods assailing me and others. Those threads have been salvaged before their deletion and is now stored for safe keeping. Their posts not only impugned the character of others but they publicly threatened their livelihood by inferring that they were involved in a clandestine operation to bribe me to flip flop my position about the Italian American leadership. Words that had crossed the threshold of slander and libel to apparently include elder abuse.
I can post the thread of the now warehoused slanderous remarks that they recently removed from the TSA FB site. I can post them on this thread or on your personal FB site. I can even bring a copy to your next Sunday gathering and participate those discussion with irrefutable facts thwarting the false accusation we (and now apparently you) are being asked to ingest without proof. Your call.

REGARDING THE LATEST SPOOF TO DETRACT FROM OUR TAYLOR STREET ROOTS.
There are those who have little or no regard for the contributions of our parents/grandparents who crossed the great ocean at the turn-of-the-century and found their way to what eventually became known as the legendary Taylor Street. Our immigrant parents who found their way to this immigrant neighborhood, in the shadows of the Chicago loop, defied the profound failure predictions of our sociological soothsayers. They endured and survived the psychological genocide imposed upon them by the media and the major culture. Enabling future generations of Taylor Street's Italian Americans to transition from being servants to the dream to becoming participants in the dream.
I remain critical of and cannot support Carl Vaniglia’s posted contention that --PARAPHRASING: “Our turn-of-the century Taylor Street immigrant parents/grandparents are old useless remnants of a meaningless era who should be replaced by figures symbolic of ancient Roma.
To deny them in favor the narcissistic bent of those who had never lived or even acknowledged the Taylor Street experience as children of those immigrant forbearers is an infamnia. It would be akin to the devouring of our young...the devouring of our legacy. Denying our posterity of the true legacy of Taylor Street's Little Italy, the port-of Call for Chicagoland's Italian immigrants.
As was suggested earlier, beginning with the resurrection of our Taylor Street Renaissance a decade earlier, the now vacant Piazza should include a statue which would serve as memorial to those turn-of the century immigrants. Memorializing forever the true heroes and heroines of that Taylor Street phenomenon. The memorial would serve as a reminder of the contributions made by such as Florence Scala, Victor Arrigo, the parents on Anthony Fornelli, etc., etc. Perhaps even Jane Addams whose first invitation to Hull House (sic 1891) was written in Italian and signed Signorina Jane Addams.
We must encourage our business owners to participate in the construction of a statue to be included in the recently vacated Bishop Street Piazza commemorating our forbearers and their achievements. Donations made as tax deductible business expenses would including any commissions being paid to those soliciting those tax deductible donations ..
&&&&&&&&
It has been suggested that the vacated Piaza on Bishop street be resurrected to include a monument to our immigrant parents/grandparents who had emigrated from the shores of the Italian peninsula at the turn of the century, sought the dream, and made it possible for their offspring to transition from servants to the dream to participants in the dream. When we were denied access to the Hull House Museum in 2013, that segment of the Taylor Street Archives remained dormant, hibernating in our www.TaylorStreetArchives.com website that currently houses our history and our legacy. Unfortunately, the Italian leadership during that era turned their backs on us. Under the leadership of our newly elected JCCIA president who has endorsed and supported every effort to resurrect our Taylor Street Renaissance, be they grass roots or initiated by seasoned legal and political minds, we have an opportunity to circumvent the narcissism that has recently erupted and reinstated the grass roots victory of our people who had initially won over the UIC Trustees, the UIC Trustees chairman (Chris Kennedy (Bobby Kennedy's son), the UIC Chancellor, etc. .

No problem, Ron. We can meet almost anytime.
You may want to view Carl's posts where he is constantly impugning with vile crazy bat shit language anyone he views as a possible threat to his fiefdom as guardian of our Italian heritage. That mostly includes you and me. I ignored his and Marcantella’s remarks, as you suggested, except that I could not let pass their posts in which they blatantly and publicly demeaned either your character or mine. No swear words, simply factual response agreeing with or refuting whatever was being posted.
You are accused of offering me a bribe to include you in my praise of all who participated in the success of our Columbus crusade and then some. You were maliciously accused of bribing me to support you. NOT RESPONDING WOULD SURELY HAVE DENOTED AN ADMISSION OF GUILT. BTW: My initial post, of which they were critical, mentioned the possibility of a museum.
***
As a result of my retorts to their repeated accusations, they have come to the realization that they had maliciously slandered you with their posts. (Not so much me.) Hence, they deleted their posts. However, to keep them at bay, I reminded them that their posts are in storage and in safe keeping. Karma being Karma, just yesterday Carl slipped and accidently posted the following incriminating evidence (legally incriminating and otherwise):
“Carlo Vaniglia

Vincent Romano don’t slander me to sanctify Ron Onesti and the JCCIA.”

I can send you the thread that was posted after Columbus day. It praises all the participants in our crusade to resurrect our heritage. It and the threads that follow contain the exact slanderous words of both Phillip and Carl that accuse you, by name and by innuendo, of attempting to insidiously replace them as the leaders of the movement by your offering me a bribe. You are also publicly accused of being involved in stealing the DiMaggio statue, etc.
Conclusion: The recent deleting of their malicious slanderous posts, suggests that they now recognize their vulnerability. Combine that with their reaching out to you (personally or by proxy) I would suggest that they now view their vulnerability (to the community and whatever) to be real.
So pick a date and see if we can put all this BS behind us.

Theresa Nicastro Thanks for the invitation. At this stage I can best serve our people by giving recognition, praise, and support to all who have contributed to the successes we’ve had in our quest to resurrect our heritage and our Taylor Street legacy. Unfortunately, I also find myself having to defend the vile and narcissistic driven attacks designed by those who have organized a malicious campaign to impugn the integrity of elected leader of the Italian American community, and in the process threaten his livelihood.
In the event you were not made privy to that post praise (or possibly accepted someone else’s interpretation of what it said) I’ve attached the salient snippet that is irrefutable.
FOLLOWING IS A SYNOPSIS OF THE PRAISE EXPRESSED BY THE TAYLOR STREET ARCHIVES FB SITE FOR THOSE WHO HAD CONTRIBUTED TO OUR MISSION TO RESURRECT THE ARRIGO PARK STATUE, ALONG WITH THE TAYLOR STREET RENAISSANCE, SHORTLY AFTER THE AMAZING SUCCESS OF OUR COLUMBUS DAY PARADE.
“A decade or so ago I thought we had succeeded in our mission to resurrect our legacy; the legacy of those who lived the Italian American experience of growing up on Taylor Street.
The UIC Trustees and the UIC Chancellor all concurred with our presentation that "History should include the story of those who lived it." The UIC leadership were unanimous in their decision that we share the Hull House Museum with the UIC. The stories and articles of the TSA, which the Fra Noi opted to run in a year-long series, confirmed the synergy that existed between the Jane Addams' Hull House and Taylor Street's little Italy, the laboratory upon which the premier sociologist of her day, Jane Addams, tested her theories and based her protests to the establishment.
“However, the then power structure of the Italian American community failed to support the decision of the UIC chancellor, the UIC trustees, and its Chairman, Christopher Kennedy, (son of Robert Kennedy) to include the TSA in the Jane Addams Hull House Museum. Not one medium, not one alleged leader (social, political or otherwise), not one prominent business man spoke out on behalf of our legacy…our occupying and sharing the Jane Addams Hull House Museum. In short, THE SILENCE WAS DEAFENING.
Cutting to the chase, today we have the vibrant combination of the acknowledged leader of the Italian Americans, Ron Onesto, recently elected President of the JCCIA. Contrary to his predecessors, he is actively involved in every ground swell of our Italian constituents--weekly vigils at the Columbus statute sight, amassing a Columbus Day parade that rivaled that of the Camelot days of the JCCIA; providing support for the grass roots efforts of creating a visual legacy of Taylor Street's Little Italy comparable to that of Greektown and Chinatown. And of equal importance, the overdue creation of the Taylor Street Archives/Museum.
We now have a synergy that had never existed. Ron Onesti, armed with his acknowledged leadership of our people's empirically confirmed dedication to our cause, on the one hand, and the vibrant and energetic activities of our grass roots revolutionaries. The existence and mutual support of both entities is crucial to the success of our mission.
Vincent
Meanwhile, the Carlo Vaniglia/Marcantelli posts, which are irrefutable in confirming their libelous attacks on Ron Onesti, had been secretly removed by them. No matter as their libelous posts had been safely preserved. I understand that you may not want to lose your standing in the group. However, if you wish to be refreshed as to the denigrating and malicious remarks, I can messenger those as well.
Since they now control the narrative and the agenda by their tactic of accusing others of doing exactly what they had done, I expect you would never confront them for fear that they may place you on their chopping block. I understand that. But thanks anyway for the invitation.

the achievements. keeping the likes of Carlo and Phillip from destroying the movement by insidiously attacking others in this crusade in an attempt to perpetuate their reign over Taylor Street's Italian Americans. I've already gotten them to end their insidious threats to Ron Onesti, impugning his character and threatening his livelihood because they viewed him as a threat because of the successes for which he was recognized. My efforts have already forced them to hide their posts in which they impugn Onesti's character and threaten his livelihood.
They and the one other person of whom they had recruited as their proxy have now ended their denigration of Ron Onesti. However, Carlo continues on alone with his slanderous and libelous accusations. His narcissism apparently is insatiable even in the face of irrefutable evidence.
If you like, I can send you their posts which I had safely stored before Carl and Phillip had removed them. I can make them available to you for your perusal, if you like. You can then make your own determinations. Meanwhile, feel free to attack me as I understand that your priorities may be to retain your standing as a loyal member of the group.
You never directly accused anyone of bribing or taking a bribe. You never directly attacked anyone with any falsehoods to the point of threatening, not only their reputation, but their livelihood. i do believe hat your motives are noble and that you've simply, without scrutiny, been programmed to believe what they said I said.

Columbus Chris
WOW! You are the only one with the intellect to discern that neither Vaniglia nor Marcantelli have produced, in their month long vendetta to denigrate and impugn the character of Taylor Street patriots and, in the process, threatening their livelihood. (Deborah Craig has recently picked up the mantle for them as well but has recently minimized her involvement when confronted with the actual posts made by CV and PM charging Ron Onesti with bribery.) They spew their venom hourly which was being rapidly absorbed by the dozen or so lemmings that are apparently oblivious of the fact that not a single piece of evidence is being or has been produced to confirm their accusations or they have become fearful that they may lose their standing in the group or, Robespierre style, be the next victims to be hauled onto guillotine stage.
If Vaniglia and Marcantelli cannot produce the alleged posts of insults and lies, it would suggest that obvious age old ploy of usurpers is in play; i.e., Charging others with the crimes/behavior that they themselves have perpetrated.
Both Vaniglia and Marcantelli have removed their vilifying and litigious posts. Perhaps because they’ve come to the realization that they have placed themselves in jeopardy. However, their posts made and apparently carefully crafted in response to my post praising all who had contributed to the success of the mission that culminated in the successful Columbus Day parade was safely stored prior to their removal of same in their attempt to conceal the malice being heaped upon Ron Onesti.
I thought about printing out that 2 page thread and bringing it the Taylor Bishop Piazza as a handout. I will send you a copy of the thread that includes their false accusations regarding Ron Onesti had offered a bribe to me to support him. You can post it, if you choose, and ask them to respond. Or simply share it with selective members of the group. Those you feel would benefit from the irrefutable facts. Or print the one page thread and make it available to interested parties.

That means to Hell with all the stab in the back people! I always gave people the benefit of doubt, it looks like I need to change my ideas. And I have gotten it from a reputable source that all that was said is true!! This person is as Evil as the Devil himself to stab other Italians in the back!!
Given that Columbus Chris inquiries have again been muted by those heaping on further unsubstantiated allegations, should we not know the names of “all of the stab in the back people?” Or at least some of them?
Further, should we not know the “reputable sources that all that was said is true?” Equally important, should we not know what it was that was said and to whom?
And finally, who is this person (apparently someone other than the back stabbers) that is “as Evil as the Devil himself stabbing others in the back?”
If not, you’re allowing Vaniglia and Marcantelli to impugn anyone of their choosing at any time they choose to do so.
Neither Carlo nor Phillip have been willing to provide Columbus Chris with any credible information he asked for regarding their repeated and unfounded allegations. Perhaps you can garner that information from them at your next meeting. If you are successful in extracting that information, then certainly you should post the lies being hurled at them for everyone to see.
Meanwhile, I’ll send you the initial posts and the relevant threads that praised the contributions of “all” in our achieving the successes to date. Their responses should match the irrefutable written allegations they made.

Ron Onesti
Ron Onesti, newly elected president of the JCCIA (spring 2021). Tirelessly serving the Italian American community and its legendary Taylor Street -- beginning with the successful negotiation for the return of the Arrigo Park Columbus statue in preparation for our Columbus Day parade, the rescue and salvation of the DiMaggio Statue from the vandalism inflicted upon the Columbus statue, directing the full support of the JCCIA and the Italian leadership to the grass roots efforts of those who had and continue to contribute to our crusade to preserve our Taylor Street legacy, the production of a Columbus Day Parade that rivaled that of the Camelot days of the 1960s and 70s, to the creation of a fund raiser for a fellow Italian.

Vince Romano loyalties.
In response to your flawed allegations, the litmus test of my loyalties is a no brainer. My commitment to Taylor Street and its Italian American legacy reaches as far back as the 1960s when I, as president of the Gregorian Association of Educators, organized scholarship dinner dances…invited the heads of the TV stations, newspapers and other media to workshops where I unmasked their prejudices and their participation in the psychological genocide of our people…and, in the process forced them to admit that the caption on the Chicago Tribune: "The purpose of a modern day newspaper was to control and direct public opinion" applied to every segment of the media they represent.
We were successful in getting the first Italian American ever to be hired by a major TV news network in Chicago.
I'll send you that information, which further clarifies my involvement and notes my presentation to the UIC Trustees that won over all 36 members and the Chancellor that we Taylor Street Italians, per the mission statement of the Jane Addams Hull House Museum, are entitled to a share of the Museum.
I understand your blind and irrational support of the group that is determined to impugn the integrity of someone in addition to themselves may receive recognition for their contributions to our Taylor Street crusade. It appears that, at all cost, you just don’t want to lose you standing in the group.
I plan on attending one of your meetings to find out first hand why the leadership of that particular group is spewing lies about one of our mainstays in this crusade, vilifying his name and threatening his very livelihood. And repeatedly refusing requests for poof of their accusations that that person is involved in some clandestine plot to derail the efforts of our community to reclaim our Taylor Street legacy.

Calling me out messenger
Hi. You’re apparently newly recruited. Trying to locate where I asked someone to private messenger. It could have been that their inquiry went beyond the scope of proof that the president of the JCCIA and newly elected leader of the Italian American community, Ron Onesti, had bribed me to write the article I posted on Oct. 23, 2021. The article in which Messrs: Vaniglia and Marcantelli publicly claimed that Mr. Onesti had bribed me to write. The article in which they claim negatively impacted their participation in the movement to resurrect our Taylor Street legacy.
I am assuming that you’ve read the October 23 article and have no questions about the alleged evidence that Messrs: Vaniglia and Marcantelli claim regarding Mr. Onesti’s bribing me? If they’ve shared that evidence with you, it’s safe to share that publicly without being complicit.
REGARDING YOUR SPECIFIC INQUIRY ABOUT MESSENGER
To be precise: -- “slander is the making of a false statement about another that unjustly harms their reputation . . .” The slandering of a senior citizen has further litigious consequences.
There is a difference between one inquiring about proof of the statement that Mr. Onesti offered me a bribe and one endorsing the statement that I was offered a bribe. Endorsing the false statement makes one complicit in slander. There is now a 3rd party associated in the event of any litigious proceedings.
Per legal, any person making public comments supporting the allegation that Mr. Onesti had bribed me to write that October 23 article, without presenting evidence of that occurrence, would make that party complicit. Hence, the reason why I would want to shield them via messenger from unknowingly become a party to and complicit in any litigious behavior.
Further, there are those who fear their losing their standing in the group. Messenger was their choice.
Again, thanks for your interest.
